A Day of Dates

Friday! Friday!

(c’mon…who else is doing the friday dance?! I KNOW I am not alone)

Yesterday was the most fun weekday  I have had in a long time! First up, I conquered my longest ride yet on my new road bike.

Isn’t she pretty!?!?!! I needed a road bike for the triathlon I am doing September 5th…three OH MY GOLLY it is two weeks away!! AHH! Anyway, I found a great deal on ebay of all places- Sporty Mama Bike Shop. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an entry level bike. Mine was $250 with shipping- must note here that I ordered my bike Sunday and had it by wednesday- and super easy to put together. So far I REALLY love it.

Anyway, yesterday I mastered the race distance- 16 miles + then some!

oooop oop! It took me about an hour an a half, but I stopped to stretch, fix my chain once, and hit up a farm stand for berries & veggies on my way home.

Next best thing about yesterday is something I found at said farm stand, actually….

THIS!!!!

BIGGEST. ZUCCHINI. EVERRRR.

umm so, if you have a great recipe using zukes, please help a sista out!! I really want to try bread/muffins?

I also had two seperate dates to look forward to: lunch AND dinner.

Lunch- at Old Town Coffee & Eatery. BEST coffee served here, cute cozy interior, awesome friendly service and a fab menu.

My hot date- Heather!!!

Oh my word, friends. Excuse me while I gush for a few minutes. Heather & her husband are staying in a cute lil cabin in Northern Michigan and I stumbled into her blog when I was searching Naturally Nutty on twitter. It was fate, I say! I offered to show her one of my fave spots to dine in TC, and we had an amazing chat that could have EASILY gone on for another hour or two. She was so sweet, and I think I have developed a girl crush on her. Anyone who can so effortlessly throw “ya’ll” into everyday sentences has my heart. I think I am a southern soul in a yankees body :) Heather, if I ever make it down your way, I am holding you to your offer of a tour!

And to cap off my fabulous day- this hot date:my hot date

hubba.

We had plans for dinner & a concert! Dinner was a total fail, but we made due. The place we first wanted to go to had over an hour wait. 2nd option was closed for electrical problems. We settled on the Hofbrau. aka- over priced food, big beer mugs, and convenience. Oh well, it was about the company, not the setting :)

We decided to split the crab stuffed portobella & the nachos. And salads to negate what was sure to be excess amounts of butter & cheese for some green :)

Lots of local brews!! I got a Magic Hat #9.

It did the trick. Off to the concert!

At the beautiful Kresge Auditorium in Interlochen Arts Academy (featured alumni include Jewel, Josh Groban, Rumer Willis, MADONNA, and more- look at the list!) P8190787 kresge auditorium interlochen

Who was playing in lil’ ol’ Interlochen??

Ohhh, ya know…just an 80’s Hair Rock Band…

YES!!!!!!! I loved them- so great!! I know I was a product of the 80’s, but seriously, why isn’t this style of music popular anymore?! I loved that one minute we were head banging to Juke.Box.HERO (ahhhaha), the next we were clapping hands, swaying and belting out I WANNA KNOW WHAT LOVE IS (i want you to showwww meeeeee)

And, fo real, check out hot great these older men look. Tight white pants & shirts unbuttoned to navels? Sold ;)

  1. FOREIGNER !! awesome!! I went to a Boston concert a few years back, and they totally 80′ed it up (70′ed??) fog machines and three in a row guitar dancing.

love the pups :) you cannot say treat around Basil without giving him one. he doesn’t just go back to normal pup face. :)

  2. Tight white pants & shirts unbuttoned to navels? Sold. Haha – you are too funny Sarah. Friday was a great day! I so enjoyed our lunch together, and yes, if you ever come down to Nashville, I would be happy to be your official tour guide.

The Foreigner Concert looked quite entertaining – nothing like some 80′s hair rock band music to cap off a wonderful day. Glad you enjoyed!

So today, Chris and I went to Glen Arbor, sandwiched at Thyme Out, climbed some sand dunes (kicked my booty, but so worth the views), and then drove to Empire to see the beach and got ice-cream at Tiffany’s. Thanks for a wonderful itinerary. We had a blast.

Before I leave Michigan, I will buy myself a jar of that mustard! Again, looking forward to another lunch date next summer! :)

  3. I love the bike, hope it serves you well. Good luck with the race using it, only a few more weeks!

I wish I could see Chicago in concert, that’d be cool … I wasn’t born early enough I suppose.

  4. Okay, I am soooo jealous of your sweet bike!

I’ve been wanting to get a bike, but I’ve been holding off because of other expensive things (ahem..HLS). Yours is so cute though! And congrats on your longest ride – that’s awesome!

  5. Sarah – one of my friends won a guitar signed by the band at that concert! I email you a pic!
